After a long hiatus, I am back again, trying to catch up on my massive devWatch list, and hopefully getting around to adding some stuff to my own gallery.
The past few months have been exceptionally busy, and the next few promise to be just as busy. In September, my sweetheart and I moved into a new apartment, and began stepping up our plans for the latest incarnation of the gaming convention that we organize each year -
TempleCon 2008 This is our third year, and we are growing by leaps and bounds, so there has been a ton of work to do in the process of organizing this event, and more on the way. This year, we have a steampunk theme, with a weekend-long costume contest, and an art show sponsored by the
Gallery Z art gallery. Plus, we are bringing one of my favorite artists out from Oregon for the show:
Quinton Hoover
So, as you might imagine, I've been pretty swamped with work for the convention, in addition to braving the usual perils of the freelance life. Modeling work has been trickling in, and I've been doing some promotional work, but I haven't exactly been swimming in money, so I've been applying my artistic skills to more practical crafts, and selling those - quilted work and painted keepsake boxes. Hopefully, I can get some pictures of these up here soon.
We've started up the second round of work on the film
The Resurrection - we'll probably be filming it for much of the winter, assuming that the weather cooperates. And it looks like I'll be doing more extra work in the next week, plus a dance performance at The Immortals event at The Asylum in Portland, Maine.
Finally, I've been writing a bit again, in fits and spurts. Mostly work on that endless graphic novel project (renamed Vespertine after I finally got around to reading The Eternal Champion by Michael Moorcock and realized that my previous title choice sounded too much like I was an Elric fan - eventually I'll get around to reading that series too, but there are too many books ahead of it on my reading list), but I've also done a few song lyrics as well. Of course, that doesn't mean that I've managed to track down band members to record the stuff with - hopefully, I'll have more time to search for those in the spring, after the convention...
Speaking of which, it's back to work on that for me - no rest for the wicked!
